Much more relaxed day planned for today, down to New Orleans, arrive late afternoon and stay for couple of days to check out the Cajun/Creole food, catch some delta blues and drink/party till the wee hours, stumble home, repeat as necessary!

The weather hasn’t improved much. We were wearing everything we left home with all day.

I was talking to a local girl in southern Mississippi, poor girl hardly had a tooth in her head, said they were “havin a blackberry winter”.

From what I understood, the freeze/thaw cycle of unseasonable weather results in a unusually bountiful blackberry harvest…personally, I’d prefer to go without the berries!

Made it to “le vieux carré” before supper, checked into an historic old hotel on St. Ann st, middle of the French Quarter, then headed for the restaurants and bars.

Supper started with alligator sausage and pickled peppers for appetizers, followed by Shrimp creole, Cajun sausage and rice, and crawfish étouffé, washed down with a delicious amber beer, the only decent beer I’ve had since crossing the US border!

Then off to the blues bars on Bourbon St. Awesome music if you pick the right place! The band at the “blues Club” was inf**kingcredible!!!! The other bars had a mix of everything from country to rock and folk with only one band on Bourbon St playing cajun/zydeco! IMAGINE…nothing happening at the Hard Rock Café, big name, waste of time!

Fun time and a late night in the Big Easy! Stumbled home with my grinning`brown eyed girl
