Day 64 Thursday June 12

We were pleasantly surprised to see quite a few women traditionally dressed.
I especially like the matching pink clogs in the left picture.

Left David, Chiriqui Province, Panama
Temp: 30 degrees C
Cloudy, rainy

We had a late breakfast and hit the road around 11am heading for Santiago on the pan-american. I had originally thought of going via Boca and the coast but after several inquiries opted for the better road. It was a good decision as we encountered many heavy rain squalls on route which would have been very dangerous on the other road and at times was scary and barely driveable on the good one. Our luck was with us in the mountains today.

In spite of all the bad weather we made good time and decided to go on past Santiago and hope for Penonomé, another two hours ride, before dark.

The views today were spectacular, and the temperature was just on the cool side of hot!

We pulled into Penonomé just as it was getting dark and we were no sooner parked at a hotel than the rain came down in sheets!

Yup! It was a lucky day!

A nice garlicky supper and a trip to the local shops for sweets and water, and back to the hotel for some reading and rest…….

Panama City and the Canal tomorrow!!!!!

Can you guess the road-kill....

Kilometers - Daytrip: 300km total: 13,788
Gas:
$ 33
Lodging: Hotel Dos Continentos $ 25
