Tuesday Aug 11

Rocky Harbour
Gros Morne Nfld

Our original plan today was to pack up early and get on the Western Brook Pond boat at one PM, then head up to Port aux Choix. Unfortunately we were too late for the early boat and had to take the four PM tour, so, back to the campground and set up again to spend another night after the boat tour. It definitely was worth the wait. Massive towering granitic gneiss all around …..Very impressive!
On the way to the boat we encountered a bull moose four feet from the highway, stopped and nervously took pictures, he was soooo close! But he started feeding and completely ignored us most of the time.
I have to say I am in awe of Chris and Marcelle successfully completing that long range trail, especially when I see the remoteness of the area…..A daunting prospect from where I stood and kudos to you two for completing it with rainy smiles in the bargain.
Today was the first day that we had sun from start to finish!!!!
By the time we got back to the campground it was very cool and we settled into a hot supper and books . So nice to have a tent already set up for the night!
