First day of this Trip !! -July 31, 2009

Day 1

Sat morning 1 AM

N Sydney Cape Breton

Suzie and I are on the road again. This time we’re headed for Newfoundland, Labrador, then through Québec and around the Gaspé to home.

We had a wonderful sunny ride through NB and NS to Sydney, encountering hundreds of motorbikes (and two families of ducks and ducklings scootin` across the road). Coincidently, there is a huge bike rally (Thunder in the Highlands) in Sydney!

We’re currently sitting in line at the ferry terminal with three ferry loads of postponed passengers and vehicles piled up ahead of us.

When we went to confirm our Saturday morning 8:30 departure we were told we had been rescheduled for a Saturday night departure at 11:30 PM…..not happy campers, I tried everything I could to wheedle and cajole boarding passes from the reservations officer to no avail….

Suzie sent me off to get some fresh air while she worked her magic and managed to get us booked on the Saturday 5 am boarding. Incredible!

So here we sit waiting to go, yakking with the other bikers in the line-up and just generally filling in time.

Tomorrow should see us on the rock with a rainy day but no time constraints for two weeks…….touring and camping.
