Day 35 Wednesday May 14

Our beachside cabana !

No Travel Day

Dangriga Town, Stann Creek, Belize
Temp: 32 degrees C

Sunny/clouds & Hot

Slack day today, started with a trip to the local internet café/laundry/hostel/takeout.

Got the laundry done a whole lot faster than the blog update and mail! We struggled with the internet connection for 5 hours to try and update the blog, get our email and check on the weather for Placentia. We kept getting booted off and had a few hacker attempts and browser takeovers. Took an other hour to clean up the mess!

I guess I can’t complain. I didn’t even expect to get any internet at all in Belize.

By three thirty we finally went off to the beach, Ughh~! I was hoping for a refreshing swim but it was a whole lot more like a hot water bath (Sue loved it!) I have been in colder Jacuzzis.

Around six we stopped at a roadside food vender and bought supper for Susie and I, six Bean Panades with spicy coleslaw for $1 and watched the local hotties smear a concoction of cold chicken bouillon paste and salt on fresh cut and peeled oranges and wolf them down. We couldn’t bring ourselves to try that….chicken oxo, salt and oranges???

The girls were very excited about the bikes and asked for permission to take pics of each other sitting on the bikes. A couple got brave and asked if I would give them a short ride around the block, the first one chickened out but the other was game so I toured her around a bit of the town. What a hoot! She waved and hollered and called to everyone all the way laughing and giggling like a little kid…….so excited!!! Too much fun!

Then off to the grocery for beer, pop, and a litre of water. (No we’re not alcoholics Nicole, the beer is low in alcohol and cheaper than pop or water and is always cold.)

Back at the cabana: We be chillin wit de cool breeze by de sea under de coconuts mon!

The local creole sounds like a Jamaican dialect
