Day 28 Wednesday May 7

Weaver-bird nest we saw on the drive to Isla Mujeres

Left Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico
Temp: 42+ degrees C
Sunny, humid & Hot

Started the day with a dilemma. My gas gauge was showing less than a quarter and there was no gas station in the vicinity. We had to chance a secondary road for about fifty km to a small town called Valledolid for gas, made it there on empty, filled up then off to Cancun and Isla Mujeres.

Arrived just in time for the ferry to Isla Mujeres and were lucky enough to get a spot and make it to the beach by about 3:30. To the right is the view from the ferry

FUN,fun, fun! Gorgeous beach, lovely green-blue water! And about two minutes from where we are staying….bonus! Beers on the beach and a leisurely trip back in the setting sun.

Went to a downtown restaurant for supper (Vinales Restaurant on the main strip) and had great meals, hugh portions and excellent! Their Chicken Molé is, in Sue’s words, “to die for!” and the mojitos were two for one!

Kilometers - Daytrip: 220 km Total: 8100
Gas:
$17.00
Lodging: Hotel Marcianito $50
