Happy mother’s Day to Susie!
Went in search of coffee early but found all the town still closed up. Aftera bit we found a small family operated restaurant serving locals and stopped in for great breakfasts that were more of a meal than a breakfast!
Went to check out Garrafon reef at Playa Garrafón de Castilla. We brought our snorkel gear and bought fish food then headed for the reef. What an awesome day in the water, swarmed by brightly coloured tropical fish of every size and hue! Barracudas, groupers, jacks, angelfish, parrot fish…too many to name! They were literally eating out of my hand.
There was a school of parrot fish the size of a large serving tray(Sue counted fourteen) that were an iridescent combination of reds greens and yellow ….and one very large one that was a very striking
Royal purple with neon blue markings…incredible!
This place was crawling with large lizards and iguanas. One large male followed his dame into the restaurant area and put on quite a display to let everyone know she was his while bits of food were tossed to her. He finally decided to take food himself and ended up literally eating out of the hand of an Italian friend we met there. You would think this thing would take his hand off but it was very careful and took pains not to bite his fingers. He eventually was able to pet it a few times before it decided to leave.
Beer and chicken tacos at the waterside restaurant and then back to the hotel to pack and an early night. We want to catch the first ferry (6:15 am) back to
